Former DISY president Averof Neophytou described the decision by party leader Annita Demetriou as prudent and responsible, and one that strengthens the party’s unity.
“Following the announcement by the President of our party, Annita Demetriou, who took a prudent and responsible decision that strengthens the unity of the party, there is only one thing I have to say: WE MOVE FORWARD TOGETHER,” he said in a written statement issued on Thursday afternoon.
Neophytou recalled that ten days earlier he had said he supported the call by a large section of our fellow citizens “for a national awakening that will bring us out of the lull of passivity, so that we can solve the country’s major problems, give young people prospects and build a just society”.
He also said that the people of the Democratic Rally are the valuable and irreplaceable core of this nationwide movement, because “they also safeguard the unity of the party”.
“And I have repeatedly stated that I would never hurt these wonderful people,” he noted.
