A large fire broke out at a storage facility in an industrial area of Larnaca on Thursday evening (8 October), sending thick black smoke into the sky and making it visible from surrounding roads.
According to a post by the RoadReportCY Facebook page, the fire occurred in the wider area between Kalo Chorio, Aradippou and Dromolaxia, near the Larnaca-Limassol motorway.
The incident was spotted by a passing driver shortly before 19:00.
Driver alerted Fire Service
According to the eyewitness, who spoke to RoadReportCY, they contacted the Fire Service after noticing the fire in the area to alert the authorities.
Video obtained and published by the page, recorded at around 18:30, shows large amounts of dense smoke emerging from the upper section of a large industrial warehouse.
Additional footage taken from a nearby road shows the smoke spreading along the roof of the building before rising into the sky.
No details yet on cause or injuries
There were no immediate details available from the post regarding the cause of the fire, the extent of any damage or whether anyone was injured.
The Fire Service had not issued an announcement regarding the incident at the time of writing.
