Annual inflation in Cyprus slowed marginally to 4.0% in July, down from 4.1% in June, according to preliminary figures published on Friday by Eurostat.
Despite the slight decline, Cyprus recorded the third-highest inflation rate in the European Union, behind Lithuania (5.6%) and Bulgaria (4.1%).
Inflation in eurozone rises to 2.9%
Across the eurozone, annual inflation is estimated to have increased to 2.9% in July 2026, compared with 2.8% in June.
Energy remains main driver
Among the main components of eurozone inflation, energy recorded the strongest annual increase, rising by 10.0% in July, up from 8.5% the previous month.
It was followed by:
- Services: 3.3% (from 3.2%)
- Food, alcohol and tobacco: 1.2% (from 1.5%)
- Non-energy industrial goods: 0.9% (from 0.7%)
The figures indicate that energy prices continued to be the primary contributor to inflationary pressures across the euro area.
