According to a police statement, the two latest arrests are expected to be brought before the courts tomorrow. On Tuesday, the Paphos District Court issued a four-day remand order against one of the 18-year-olds.
The two 18-year-olds are being investigated, among other offences, for conspiracy to commit a misdemeanour and a felony, illegal possession and transportation of a firearm and explosives, and firing a shot in a residential area.
Man found his cat dead with 13 firearm pellets
The investigation began after a 56-year-old reported on Sunday, October 4, that he had found his cat dead a short distance from his home. Members of the Animal Unit and the Paphos Central Police Station went to the scene and carried out examinations.
A post-mortem examination conducted on the animal yesterday found that it had 13 firearm pellets in its body.
As part of the investigation, a court warrant was obtained for the arrest of an 18-year-old, who was arrested yesterday. A number of items of evidence were found and seized during a search of his home. A second 18-year-old, who is alleged to be involved in the case, was arrested today, followed by the 16-year-old.
Investigations by the Paphos CID are continuing.
