The Municipality of Lakatameia held the Lakatameia River Walk on 30 September and the 24th Lakatameia Folklore Festival on 25 September.

The Municipality of Lakatameia organised two cultural events in late September: a music walk at the Pedieos Linear Park and a tribute to dance instructor Sotiris Odysseos.

The Lakatameia River Walk took place on 30 September, organised by the Municipality of Lakatamia with the participation of the Lakatamia Municipal Youth Council. Nineteen music bands took part. According to a municipal announcement, their melodies and energy gave the public a musical walk along the route.

Food caravans and mobile bars were stationed at the end of the route, offering food and refreshing drinks in a festive atmosphere, the announcement said.

Earlier, on 25 September, the 24th Lakatamia Folklore Festival was held at the Lakatameia Municipal Amphitheatre. The event was dedicated to the late Sotiris Odysseos, dance instructor of the Lakatamia Municipality Folklore Group.

This year’s festival was titled “As long as I live, I will dance; as long as I dance, I will live... Our Sotiris…” and was a music and dance tribute to his life. According to the municipality, Sotiris Odysseos’s love of and dedication to dance left a distinctive mark on Lakatamia’s cultural life.
