The Nicosia District Local Government Organisation (EOA Nicosia) has signed a new agreement with EYATH Services S.A. aimed at upgrading the digital management of water supply and sewerage infrastructure.
The initiative is expected to support more efficient water and wastewater management, improve services to residents, reduce environmental impacts and strengthen energy management.
The agreement, signed in Nicosia on Tuesday, moves into the implementation phase a memorandum of cooperation concluded by the two organisations in May and focuses on transferring technical expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Focus on digital infrastructure
The project centres on the development of a modern geospatial information platform designed to improve EOA Nicosia's ability to record, monitor and manage its networks and infrastructure.
The agreement has a duration of 28 months and a total value of €257,699 excluding VAT.
What the project includes
The project will cover:
- Digitisation and integration of existing water, sewerage and stormwater network data.
- Creation of a unified geospatial database.
- Development of an Enterprise GIS platform.
- Training of EOA Nicosia staff.
EYATH's expertise will also be used in:
- Asset management.
- Customer service operations.
- Business process optimisation.
Yiorkadjis highlights digital transformation
EOA Nicosia President Constantinos Yiorkadjis said growing challenges in water resource management require modern solutions.
"For us, digital transformation is the means to manage our infrastructure more effectively, make faster and better-informed decisions and respond more efficiently to the needs of citizens," he said.
"Through our cooperation with EYATH, we are drawing on significant experience and expertise while creating a modern digital infrastructure for managing our networks."
EYATH points to climate challenges
EYATH chief executive Anthimos Amanatidis described the agreement as a practical example of the value of cooperation in water management.
"At a time when climate change is intensifying challenges related to drought, flooding and pressure on water resources, the exchange of expertise and best practices is essential," he said.
Amanatidis added that the agreement gives practical effect to the cooperation memorandum signed in May.
"We are transferring EYATH's expertise and experience to EOA Nicosia with the aim of creating a more modern, efficient and sustainable approach to water-cycle management, ultimately benefiting citizens," he said.
