A 17-year-old Cypriot holidaymaker was taken to hospital after being assaulted during a village festival in Sitia, Crete, with Greek police arresting two minors in connection with the incident.
According to local media reports, the incident occurred on Saturday night during a traditional festival in the Sitia area.
Dispute allegedly sparked by dance
According to police sources cited by patris.gr, tensions reportedly arose after the Cypriot teenager danced a traditional sousta with a young woman.
The incident is said to have led to a confrontation involving two minors of Albanian origin, aged 16 and 17, who allegedly attacked the teenager.
The 17-year-old sustained injuries and was taken to hospital, where he received first aid treatment.
Hospital treatment
Doctors determined that his condition did not require admission, and he was later discharged.
Different accounts from suspects
According to the report, one of the two minors allegedly admitted striking the Cypriot teenager.
The second reportedly claimed that he intervened only to separate those involved in the altercation.
Despite their differing accounts, both minors were arrested by local police as investigations continue.
