Turkish Vice-President Cevdet Yılmaz met Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman on Saturday, with no statements issued in connection with the meeting.
Meeting held at close of two-day visit
According to reports from the north, the meeting took place as Mr Yılmaz concluded a two-day visit to the area, and was held at the Turkish Cypriot "presidential palace." Turkey's "ambassador" to the north, Ali Murat Başçeri, also attended.
Yılmaz opens Morfou storage facility
Earlier that day, speaking at the opening of a refrigerated storage facility built by Cypfruvex, a citrus packaging company, in Morfou, and funded by Turkey, Mr Yılmaz said that 18,730 donums of agricultural land in the Morfou plain are irrigated using water piped from Turkey. He said the new facility would help preserve the value of produce grown in the area.
He added that new support programmes for the primary sector, agriculture and industry are being developed, along with subsidised-interest loan schemes.
Turkish VP: "Isolation" efforts will not succeed
In his address, Mr Yılmaz said Turkey would continue working to counter the effects of "isolation" through various means. "If you close one door, we will open ten. Your efforts to isolate this people will never succeed," he said.
He also said Turkey's economic and social support for the north would continue.
