'Let me be clear, the law must take its course', King Charles declared in the wake of today's unprecedented arrest of a member of the royal family in recent history, no less his younger brother, former Prince Andrew, who was stripped of all his titles last October.

Less than two hours following Andrew's arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office and his transfer to a Thames Valley Police precinct for questioning over the allegations, the King said he had learned 'with the deepest concern of the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten Windsor on suspicion of misconduct in public office'.

The King of England said what now follows is a full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner by the appropriate authorities.

'In this, they have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation', the King added.

Charles stressed that while the investigation is ongoing it would not be right for him to comment further.

'The service and duty to you will continue by my family and I', the King concluded in his message to the British people.

Heart rending message by family of Virginia Giuffree

In a statement following Andrew's arrest, the family of deceased sexual abuse victim Virginia Giuffree said that 'at last our broken hearts have been lifted', noting that no one is above the law, not even royalty.

The Giuffree family expressed its gratitude to Thames Valley Police for their investigation and subsequent arrest.

'Andrew was never a prince and for survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you,' the statement concludes.

Virginia Giuffree, an advocate for the victims of sex trafficking, who provided detailed allegations against Jeffrey Epstein to media outlets, committed suicide in April last year.
