The Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday that it was temporarily suspending the issuance of passports and identity cards, including the expedited procedure, due to a technical problem in the Civil Registry’s system.

In an announcement, it said that the Civil Registry, in cooperation with the competent department of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, was “making every effort to restore the operation of the system as soon as possible and to resume the issuance of passports and identity cards”.

It continues, however, to receive applications for passports and identity cards, it added.

The Ministry said that it will provide further information as soon as the problem is resolved and it becomes possible to resume these services.
