No criminal prosecution will be brought against the two police officers who were filmed last June by a citizen engaging in sexual acts on agricultural land in the Aradippou industrial area.

Criminal investigation closed

In response to questions from Politis about the status of both the criminal and disciplinary investigations into the two officers featured in the so-called “pink video”, police stated:

“Both the criminal and disciplinary investigations have been completed. A disciplinary case has been initiated against them following instructions from the Legal Service.”

When asked whether the officers had returned to duty, the Police confirmed that both remain on suspension.

It was established during the investigation that the female officer was on duty at the time and had travelled to the Aradippou industrial area using a service vehicle.

Suspension extended by chief of police

According to information obtained by Politis, Chief of Police Themistos Arnaoutis has decided to extend the suspension of both officers until the conclusion of the disciplinary proceedings.

The Disciplinary Committee consists of a senior police officer and two officials from the Legal Service.

The Police Press Office declined to specify the exact disciplinary offences the two officers face, stating only that they are “facing offences under the Police Disciplinary Code”.

However, sources indicate that both officers are accused of inappropriate conduct, while the female officer also faces an additional charge of neglect of duty. If found guilty, they could face dismissal from the police force.

The citizen who recorded the officers with a mobile phone while they were engaging in sexual activity outside a parked patrol car, in broad daylight, has not been identified.

The individual, apparently fearing possible prosecution, did not come forward after posting the video on social media. The footage quickly circulated online and sparked widespread public reaction.
