“Many tried to test my patience and composure, but they failed,” the Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman said in a written statement posted on social media regarding remarks by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, who stated that “Turkey’s position is clearly for a two-state solution in Cyprus. If this is Mr Erhürman’s position, he should say so publicly.”
In his written statement today, the Turkish Cypriot leader said that “Mr. Christodoulides addressed a question to me and asked me to respond publicly.” He then added that “the public already knows everything I have put on the table.” He also noted that he will meet Mr Christodoulides on 24 February, adding in brackets: “(unless something changes)”.
At the meeting, the TC leader said, Mr Christodoulides “will have questions for me and I will have questions for him”. He noted that “I will answer his questions as I always do”. He further added: “I hope and wish that he will also answer mine.”
He further said that “many tried to test my patience and composure. They failed.” He added that he continues on his course “with patience, composure, seriousness and determination, based on my people’s will for a solution.”
Finally, he maintained that he has not engaged in games of shifting blame, making it clear that he does not wish to do so.
