The Mecca Mutual Defence Agreement, signed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, has been submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, according to Turkish media.

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş is expected to sign the relevant document in the coming days and refer the agreement to the Foreign Affairs Committee. If approved by the Committee, it will be brought before the plenary for discussion and a vote.

The agreement was signed in Mecca on August 7 and aims to strengthen defence cooperation among the three countries. Ankara says it is exclusively defensive in nature and is not directed against third countries.
