President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides will meet the Turkish Cypriot leader tomorrow. It will be their second meeting since their return from New York.

The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the UN Good Offices Mission offices at Nicosia airport, in the buffer zone.

In a post today, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said the aim remained to achieve substantial progress in efforts to resume negotiations from where they were interrupted, within the agreed framework.

“We are approaching the meeting with the same constructive attitude, consistency and specific proposals, convinced that substantive dialogue can create the conditions for the next steps,” he added.

After the inauguration ceremony for the renovated Nicosia Accident and Emergency Department, the President of the Republic did not wish to make a statement. Asked by a journalist about the atmosphere ahead of tomorrow’s meeting, he replied: “The atmosphere is just fine.”

The last meeting between the leaders of the two communities took place last Tuesday, 13 October. On Saturday, both attended the Peace Festival in Pyla.
