A five-member independent investigative team appointed by the Council of Ministers to examine the findings of the Independent Authority Against Corruption in the so-called "Mafia State" case is set to begin its work without delay, government sources told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).
According to the same sources, suitable premises have already been identified to house the investigative team, while arrangements are under way for the administrative staff that will support its work, as well as the procurement of the necessary equipment.
CNA has also learned that the head of the investigative team, law professor Vassilios Skouris, has expressed his intention to serve without remuneration.
The team also comprises Christos Mylonopoulos, Sotiris Liasidis, Nikolas Koursaris and Dimitris Tsolakidis.
As announced by the Government on Thursday, the appointment of the criminal investigators will run for an initial period of up to six months. The term may be extended if a written and reasoned request is submitted to the Council of Ministers.
