The number of job vacancies in Cyprus declined sharply in the second quarter of 2026, according to figures released by the Statistical Service on Monday.
A total of 12,930 vacancies were recorded, down by 3,123 positions, or 19.5%, compared with 16,053 during the same quarter of 2025.
Quarterly decline
Compared with the first quarter of 2026, the number of vacant positions decreased by 975, representing a 7% fall.
The job vacancy rate stood at 2.6% of the combined total of employees and vacant posts. This compared with 2.8% in the previous quarter and 3.3% in the second quarter of 2025.
Sectors with the highest vacancy rates
The highest vacancy rate was recorded in accommodation and food service activities, at 4.6%.
Transportation and storage, as well as administrative and support service activities, each recorded a vacancy rate of 3.5%.
