Three men detained or charged after police searches across Limassol district

Members of the MMAD Anti-Poaching Unit carried out searches at three homes and premises in Limassol district on Saturday, uncovering military ammunition, banned cartridges and €14,000 in cash, police said.

The searches were conducted under court warrants and led to the detention or charging of three men in separate cases.

At a property owned by a 39-year-old man, officers discovered and seized 70 complete cartridges of a prohibited type. The man was taken to Limassol CID headquarters, where he was charged in writing and released pending a court summons.

In a separate search at the home and premises of a 47-year-old man, police found and seized 33 military-grade 7.62mm rounds. The suspect was arrested for an offence committed in flagrante delicto and later appeared before Limassol District Court, which ordered his detention for three days.

During a search of the home and premises of a 50-year-old man, officers found €14,000 in cash and a Flobert-type firearm for which no possession licence had been issued. The cash and weapon were seized as evidence and the suspect was arrested and remanded in custody.

Limassol CID is continuing its investigation.
