The wildfire that broke out between Limnatis and Laneia in the Limassol district is showing signs of improvement, according to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis.
Speaking to Politis Radio 107.6 & 97.6 and the programme Second Look, Mr Kettis said the fire is burning within an area that falls under the operational responsibility of the Department of Forests.
Strong ground firefighting forces remain deployed at the scene, including personnel from the Fire Service, while aerial firefighting assets continue to assist efforts to contain the blaze.
Mr Kettis stressed that no homes are currently under threat.
He said the situation has improved, with firefighting teams continuing operations aimed at bringing the fire fully under control and preventing any flare-ups or rekindling.
Earlier, reports from the Atlas Volunteer Firefighting Group and weather monitoring platform Kitasweather indicated that both ground and aerial resources had been mobilised to tackle the fire.
