Police have arrested two suspects in connection with the attempted murder of a 43-year-old man who was shot at while driving in Nicosia on 29 July.
The two men, aged 41 and 30, were detained on Friday night at Larnaca Airport immediately after arriving in Cyprus. Warrants had previously been issued for their arrest as part of the investigation.
Shot at while driving
The case relates to an attempted murder in Nicosia district on the evening of 29 July.
According to police, the 43-year-old reported to Nicosia CID that he was driving a rental car in the capital when a number of shots were fired at the vehicle.
Despite the gunfire, the man was not injured.
Evidence collected
Following the complaint, investigators from Nicosia CID and the Forensic Investigation Service examined both the scene and the rental vehicle.
Evidence recovered during the investigation was sent for scientific and forensic analysis.
The findings subsequently led police to secure arrest warrants against the two suspects, who were detained upon their arrival in Cyprus.
Nicosia CID is continuing its investigation.
