A section of Orfeos Street in central Nicosia will close to traffic for about four months from Thursday, May 21, as the municipality begins construction works under the project “Appropriate Construction of Various Roads in Nicosia – Contract 23 City Centre”.

The works concern the second section of Orfeos Street, from its junction with Dimitsanis Street to its junction with N. Mylona Street, Nicosia Municipality announced.

The project includes flood protection works through the construction of a stormwater drainage system, the creation of unified pavements in line with modern accessibility standards, reconstruction of the road surface, new traffic arrangements and improved road signage.

It also provides for roadside parking spaces and upgrades to public utility infrastructure.

Drivers are urged to be particularly careful and to follow temporary road signs and traffic diversions in the area.

Nicosia Municipality thanked the public for its understanding and cooperation over the temporary disruption expected during the works.

The project is being implemented under Cyprus’ Recovery and Resilience Plan, with funding from the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, NextGenerationEU.
