The Council of Ministers has approved a proposal by Labour and Social Insurance Minister Marinos Moushouttas for the implementation of a holiday subsidy scheme for low-income pensioners.
Under the scheme, beneficiaries will receive subsidised accommodation for four days, including three overnight stays, with full board, at hotels in mountain resorts and in Pyrgos Tyllirias.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, carried by the Government Press and Information Office, the scheme was approved by the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.
It will operate during the periods from 5 June to 31 July 2026 and from 1 September to 30 October 2026, or until the relevant budget is exhausted.
The aim of the scheme is to provide quality services to low-income pensioners while supporting mountain resorts, whose operation creates a significant number of jobs in rural areas.
The ministry said the scheme also strengthens Cyprus’ tourism product and contributes to maintaining and boosting employment in mountain communities.
Further details on eligible beneficiaries and the start date for the submission of participation forms will be announced in the coming days.
