Drivers should plan ahead next week, as maintenance works will be carried out on sections of the Nicosia-Limassol and Limassol-Paphos highways, as well as on the old Nicosia-Limassol road, according to an announcement by the Public Works Department.
Monday and Tuesday: Yialia bridge works
On Monday and Tuesday, 20 and 21 July, from 21:00 until 05:30 the following morning, works to replace expansion joints will be carried out at the Yialia bridge on the Nicosia-Limassol highway.
The works will take place in the direction of Limassol, between the Pera Chorio Nisou-Kotsiatis exit and the junction with the Nicosia-Larnaca highway. The middle and fast lanes will be closed for a length of approximately 800 metres, with traffic directed through the left lane only.
Tuesday night: waste collection from Skarinou to Germasogeia
On Tuesday, 21 July, from 20:00 until 05:30 the following morning, waste collection works will be carried out on the central reservation of the Nicosia-Limassol highway (A1), on the section from Skarinou to Germasogeia.
During the works, the fast lane in the direction of Limassol will close in sections, with traffic diverted to the slow lane.
Wednesday and Thursday: second phase at Yialia bridge
On Wednesday and Thursday, 22 and 23 July, from 21:00 until 05:30 the following morning, the expansion joint replacement works at the Yialia bridge will continue, again in the direction of Limassol, between the Pera Chorio Nisou-Kotsiatis exit and the junction with the Nicosia-Larnaca highway.
This time, the left lane will be closed for approximately 800 metres, with traffic directed through the middle and fast lanes.
Daytime sweeping on the Limassol-Paphos highway
From Tuesday 21 July until Thursday 23 July, between 07:00 and 15:00, sweeping works will be carried out on sections of the Limassol-Paphos highway, from the New Limassol Hospital interchange to the Petra tou Romiou exit, in both directions.
The fast lane will close in sections of approximately 200 metres in one direction at a time, with traffic diverted to the adjacent lane.
Friday: road marking at Kofinou
On Friday, 24 July, from 07:00 until 15:00, road marking works will be carried out on sections of the old Nicosia-Limassol road within the community of Kofinou, covering a total length of approximately 1.5 kilometres.
One lane will close in sections of 100 metres at a time, with traffic diverted to the adjacent lane.
