Thirty-eight interviews—matching her years in journalism—have been included by Annie Charalambous in her book titled “Profiles – People Worth a Page,” which will be presented in the coming days.
“The selection of these thirty-eight texts, written between 2008 and 2018, was a bittersweet yet enjoyable experience—just as any journey through memories tends to be,” says the author.
The interviewees are not limited to politicians, even though - at the time - Annie Charalambous was working at The Cyprus Weekly as a political and diplomatic correspondent. The publication includes interviews with established and emerging (at the time) artists and internationally recognized “talent hunters,” dynamic figures in sports, activists for peace and gender equality, a Nobel Prize–winning economist, successful entrepreneurs, as well as bankers who lost their prestige.
The interviewees are: Andrew Borowiec, Gerald Butt, Efthymios Bouloutas, Anna Caramondani, Nikos Christodoulides, Andrey Dashin, Marios Demetriades, Panicos Demetriades, Costas Demetriou, Alexander Downer, Deborah Duncan, Charles Ellinas, Harris Georgiades, Andreas Georgiou, Spyros Hadjinicolaou, Umit Inatchi, Temuri Ketsbaia, Matthew Kidd, John Koening, Pavlos Kontides, Loris Loizides, Stavros Malas, Odysseas Michaelides, Katerina Mina, Andreas Neocleous, Stanislav Osadchiy, Kudret Ozersay, Nicolas Papadopoulos, Anastasia Michele Papadopoulou, Theo Paphitis, Tina Pavlou, Christopher Pissarides, Stelios Platis, Jack Steven, Yiannis Toumazis, Harry Tzimitras, Monica Vassiliou, Lia Vissy.
The book presentation will take place on Wednesday, May 27, at Palia Ilektriki (3 Tempon Street, Nicosia 1016) at 6:00 p.m. Speakers will include Deputy Government Spokesman Yiannis Antoniou, a former colleague of the author, and lawyer Achilleas Demetriades.
