A satellite image reveals ruins where the official residence of Iran's spiritual leader used to stand in the centre of the capital Tehran, with extensive damage to buildings and parts of the residence destroyed, following large scale bombardment by Israeli and US forces.

The image of the complex, frequently used by Khamenei to host senior officials, was captured by Airbus early this morning.

Khamenei's residence was one of the first targets in the coordinated Israeli-US attack, hit by seven ballistic missiles.

An Iranian official told Reuters that the 86 year old Khamenei is not in the capital and has been taken to a secure undisclosed location.

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian has also been transferred to an undisclosed location.
