A Hamas founder and senior official living in Qatar cut a live interview short on the Arab 'Al Ghant' channel last night, as he walked off in a fit of rage, refusing to answer the joiurnalists' question, calling it personal views.
Mousa Abu Marzook referred to the October 7th attacks as 'the fullfillment of the organisation's national duty', to which comment the journalist asked whether he considered the Hamas actions as 'leading the Palestinians to freedom.'
'No logical person would presume to claim that one thousand fighters could free Palestine', Marjook responded, accusing the journalist of disrespect.
The heated exchange escalated rapidly with the anchor indicating that he was only conveying the questions posed by Palestinians themselves on the streets of Gaza. Marjook exploded, hurling insults.
'These are your own personal questions, show some respect to yourself. I don't want to talk to you, I don't want to see you. Cut! Cut! Go to Hell.'
Commenting on the incident this morning on Arab media, analysts point to the Marjook reaction as a clear display of rising internal tensions in Hamas, now spilling over, as well as the growing chasm with the Arab world., or public opinion.
A Fatah spokesperson, Jamal Nazal, said that the Hamas official's behaviour was a 'shameful act that exposes the moral and political bankrupcy of a crumbling group which can no longer look people in the eye.'
