The Odyssey achieved two major milestones at the global box office over the weekend.
The film adaptation of Homer's epic, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, became the highest-grossing film of Christopher Nolan's career, surpassing $1.1 billion worldwide and overtaking The Dark Knight Rises (2012), which earned $1.08 billion.
At the same time, it became the highest-grossing IMAX release in history, generating $289 million in IMAX revenue and breaking the previous record held by Avatar (2009) with $271 million.
The film is currently:
- The second highest-grossing film of 2026, behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day ($1.67 billion).
- The second highest-grossing R-rated film ever released, behind Deadpool & Wolverine (2024), which grossed $1.3 billion.
