The Deputy Ministry of Culture has revised the 2026 call following consultations with the dance community, removing the event's competitive element.

The Deputy Ministry of Culture has announced revised participation conditions for the Cyprus Choreography Platform 2026 following discussions with members of the dance community.

Deputy Minister for Culture Clea Papaellina said the platform is a well-established institution that has played a significant role in the development and promotion of contemporary choreography in Cyprus.

"The revision of the call is tangible proof that dialogue with the artistic community can and should lead to meaningful results," she said. "We listened carefully to the views and concerns of creators and proceeded with the necessary changes, respecting both the history and the needs of the institution."

She added that cultural policy should be shaped in cooperation with cultural practitioners themselves.

Competitive element removed

The main change is the abolition of the competitive format that had been included in the original call.

The platform will retain its role as a space for artistic expression, presentation and promotion of contemporary Cypriot choreographic work.

Annual contemporary dance showcase

The Cyprus Choreography Platform is an annual initiative of the Culture Deputy Ministry.

It is organised by the Department of Contemporary Culture and Rialto Theatre, in collaboration with the Limassol Dance House.

The 2026 edition will take place at Rialto Theatre from 5 to 7 February 2027.
