NBC devoted four nights to Christopher Nolan's film, ending with the entire plot performed in exactly one minute.

Homer needed twenty four books to bring Odysseus home. The stars of Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" managed it in sixty seconds. In the days before the film's cinema premiere, the cast joined "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" for a recorded music video that races through the entire epic in precisely one minute, delivered as a rapid rap track.

A four-night takeover

The video was the finale of a special four-day tribute that NBC built around the film at Studio 6BTom Holland opened the week on Monday, followed by Matt Damon on Tuesday, Zendaya on Wednesday and Lupita Nyong'o on Thursday, the night before the premiere. Across the four evenings, Jimmy Fallon and his guests took part in games and sketches inspired by the poem, including a round of Cyclops Beer Pong between Holland and the host himself.

Sixty seconds from Troy to Ithaca

The recap brought together Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal and Lupita Nyong'o. Fallon told viewers the show had worked with the cast to compress the whole story into a single minute. According to LateNighter, the track opens by introducing the characters before diving straight into the plot, with the cast rapping about the Greeks hiding inside the Trojan Horse to win the war, and wordplay tracing the hero's long journey back to Ithaca and his encounter with the Cyclops.

The clip has since spread widely online, giving one of antiquity's greatest stories an unlikely new format three millennia on.
