Police union representatives from across Europe gathered in Limassol today, Wednesday, for the annual conference of the European Confederation of Police (EuroCOP).

EuroCOP is the umbrella organisation for 30 police unions and staff organisations in Europe, representing the interests of over 230,000 police officers in 25 European countries. The Cyprus police union ISOTITA is a member of EuroCop.

With headquarters in Luxembourg, the confederation tackles issues from police cooperation across borders to a safer working environment for police officers on the street.

Established in 2002, EuroCOP states that it is “determined to contribute to European policy debates and provide added value by giving a practitioners perspective”.

The annual conference in Limassol happens to be taking place during Cyprus' EU Presidency.

According to reports, conference participants will discuss issues impacting operational effectiveness and the welfare of police in Europe, as well as the use of artificial intelligence by police.
