Α man was killed last night while changing a flat tyre on the emergency lane of the motorway stretch inside the British Bases in Dhekeleia.
The accident happened around 21:45 near the first exit to the Ksylofagou community, as under as yet unidentified circumstances, he was ran over by a passing driver who lost control of his vehicle, veered off course and subsequently hit both him and the car.
The man was killed instantly.
According to a British Bases police statement, the motorway was closed off for a few hours, until after one this morning, as traffic was diverted to other exits.
The driver of the second vehicle was arrested to facilitate an ongoing investigation as to the cause of the accident.
