Arrested Police Officer Appears Before Larnaca District Court

A member of the Cyprus Police is appearing today before the Larnaca District Court at 09:00, in connection with a case involving a series of serious criminal offences currently under investigation.

Nine Offences Under Investigation

According to police sources, a total of nine offences are being examined. These include, among others, abuse of authority, bringing a mobile phone and portable communication device into police detention facilities, bribery of a public official, neglect of official duty, and transactions indicative of corruption.

Alleged Incident in Police Holding Cells

Based on the facts under investigation, the police officer is alleged to have provided his personal mobile phone to a detainee while performing guard duties at police holding cells. The detainee reportedly used the device to make a number of telephone calls.

The investigation remains ongoing.
