Driver Abandons Scene After Hitting Baby With Scooter

Baby suffers serious head injuries following e-scooter accident.

The boy was being held by his mum at the time and his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

 

A baby is being treated for serious head injuries at the Makareion hospital in Nicosia, following an accident on a Limassol bike path early yesterday afternoon near a central area of the coastal city.

According to a police report, the incident happened at around 1520, when a 43 year old mother holding her 16 month old boy were hit by an electric scooter driver near 28th October street, under as yet unidentified circumstances.

Mum and baby fell to the ground, with the boy suffering head injuries. He was initially rushed to a private clinic in Limassol, but following initial examination, he was quickly transferred to Makareion, due to the seriousness of his condition. Doctors said the baby was stable and the injuries are not life threatening.

The E-scooter driver fled the scene and authorities have put out a search warrant against him. The public is encouraged to come forward with any information on the accident, either calling in at 25805252, which is the Limassol traffic precinct, the citizen's hotline at 1460 or the nearest police station.

The city's traffic precinct is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
