The Migration Deputy Ministry has launched a pilot scheme called Visitor - Program Participation for third-country nationals who want to study at approved schools or training institutions in Cyprus that are not classified as higher education.

The scheme covers programs longer than four months run by education bodies approved either by the Deputy Ministry of Shipping or the Department of Civil Aviation. It is designed to fill a gap for applicants who do not meet the criteria for a standard student permit by offering a special temporary residence status for educational purposes.

For the first year, the Deputy Ministry plans to issue 200 permits, split evenly between the two competent authorities. Permits will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis according to the application submission date.

Applications must be filed at the Central Offices of the Department of Immigration in Nicosia. Fees are set at €70 for issuing or renewing a temporary residence permit and €70 for the initial registration in the Aliens Registry.

Further details are available on the website of the Department of Immigration of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection.
