Two Elderly Individuals Killed in Road Accidents Outside Nicosia

One of them was a 77 year old man who was hit by a car as he was crossing the road.

Two fatal road accidents took place on the outskirts of the capital early afternoon, claiming the lives of two senior citizens.

The first occurred around one at the Ayia Varvara community. Andriana Lefteri, 80, a UK resident, was killed when the car she was travelling as a passenger collided head on with a second vehicle.

She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Nicosia General Hospital.

A second collision which happened a few hours later claimed the life of 77 year old Dimitris Skoufaris from Lakatamia.

According to a police report, the accident happened in the Pera Oreini community, when a car driven by a 19 year old hit the victim as he was crossing the road.

He was rushed to the Nicosia General where he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.

The capital's Traffic Precinct is investigating the cause of both accidents.
