The president of DISY, Annita Demetriou, has called for the immediate, thorough investigation of all pending allegations, urging the competent authorities to act without exceptions.
In a public message, Demetriou said society has been watching with growing concern the accumulation of unresolved cases that remain in the dark, creating the impression that the country is drifting.
“Each day that passes with files piling up and responsibility being shifted puts public trust and the credibility of institutions to the test,” she said.
Call for immediate action by authorities
Demetriou stressed that all competent authorities have a duty to proceed without delay to a full and in-depth investigation of every case and complaint.
She said the prolonged stagnation of cases and allegations has left citizens shocked and concerned, undermining confidence in the state’s ability to deliver accountability.
Online allegations must also be examined
The DISY leader underlined that investigations must proceed even in cases where allegations are being made online, particularly when those making the claims state that they are ready to submit evidence and material to the authorities.
“Every allegation must be brought to light, assessed and, where necessary, justice must be delivered immediately,” she said.
Warning over institutional failure
Demetriou warned that inaction and delay amount to institutional failure, arguing that only the truth can restore confidence in public institutions.
She concluded by reiterating her party’s position: transparency everywhere, oversight in everything, and zero tolerance for any form of wrongdoing.
