A delegation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation is set to meet today in Nicosia with the Chief of Police and officers handling the high-profile ‘Sandy’ case, as part of ongoing efforts to support the investigation.

According to available information, the role of the US team will not extend to direct investigative work. Instead, their contribution will focus on evaluating witness testimony and the evidential material collected so far.

Authorities expect that the expertise of the FBI delegation will assist in advancing the case more swiftly, particularly in the analysis of complex evidence.

At the same time, it has been made clear that overall responsibility for the handling of the case remains exclusively with the authorities of the Republic of Cyprus.
