Famagusta District Authority Secures €14.28 Million for Flood Protection Works in Paralimni

The project will improve stormwater management and reduce flood risks in the area.

The Famagusta District Local Government Organisation has secured approval for co-financing from the Directorate General for Growth at the Ministry of Finance for flood protection works in Paralimni.

The project, with a total budget of €14.28 million including VAT, is described by the organisation as a major infrastructure intervention aimed at strengthening flood resilience in the area.

The co-financing falls under the THALIA 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy Programme, which supports strategic investments designed to improve infrastructure resilience and promote sustainable development in local communities.

Once completed, the works are expected to significantly improve stormwater management, reduce flood risks and strengthen protection for properties and residents’ daily lives.

The Famagusta District Local Government Organisation said it would continue promoting projects of strategic importance aimed at improving safety, sustainable development and quality of life across the district.
