Iran has reacted positively to the outcome of the US midterm elections, interpreting Democratic gains as a rebuke of US President Donald Trump's policies and military actions against Tehran.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran's parliament speaker and chief negotiator, described the result as a sign that American voters oppose further conflict.
"Conscience or the cost of living, Americans said NO TO WAR, and we endorse this message," he wrote on X.
Conscience or the cost of living, Americans said NO TO WAR, and we endorse this message. If the US govt betrays their public will to serve international paymasters and blackmailers, it will learn our NO comes with a Nightmare.

His comments come amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran, with US military operations against Iran remaining a major point of political debate in the United States.
Democratic gains
The elections delivered significant gains for Democrats, who secured control of the Senate while also making advances in the House of Representatives, where vote counting was continuing.
Democrats also recorded gains in several traditionally Republican-leaning states, including Texas, Kansas and South Carolina, while posting notable victories in North Carolina and Ohio.
The results have been widely viewed as reflecting voter concerns about the economy, the rising cost of living and the policies of the Trump administration.
However, the interpretation that the outcome represents a clear rejection of war reflects the political assessment of the Iranian leadership rather than a conclusion that can be drawn directly from the election results.
Message to Washington
For Tehran, Republican losses strengthen its argument that Americans do not want further military escalation in the Middle East.
Ghalibaf recently said Iran remains on a high state of military readiness while maintaining that it is up to Washington to prevent a new conflict.
The election outcome could also complicate the White House's agenda during the remainder of Trump's term. With Democrats controlling the Senate, the administration is expected to face increased political constraints.
If Democrats also secure a majority in the House, they would gain additional oversight powers, making it more difficult for the administration to advance its legislative priorities.
Iran, however, has focused primarily on portraying the vote as a public rejection of continued military confrontation.
