Israeli carrier El Al has cancelled the repatriation flights it had scheduled for Friday to return Israeli citizens stranded in Dubai after the suspension of Flydubai flights to Israel.
“The flights that were scheduled for today from Dubai have been cancelled,” an airline spokesperson told AFP, without providing further details.
Repatriation flights scrapped
The cancellation comes after a Flydubai aircraft bound for Tel Aviv made an emergency landing on Wednesday, prompting the UAE carrier to suspend its services to Israel.
On Thursday, El Al had announced plans to operate two special flights to the United Arab Emirates to bring Israeli passengers back home.
Those flights have now been cancelled, leaving uncertainty over when stranded travellers will be able to return.
No additional explanation has yet been provided by the airline regarding the reason for the cancellation or any alternative arrangements for affected passengers.
