Iran's military said on Friday that it had launched drone attacks against US military targets in Kuwait, describing the operation as retaliation for what it called recent American attacks on Iranian territory.
In a statement, the Iranian military said it targeted fighter aircraft shelters, satellite communications systems and equipment storage facilities at Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base in Kuwait.
The US military's Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees American forces in the Middle East, had not commented on the claims at the time of publication.
Retaliation claim
Iran said the strikes were a response to what it described as a recent attack by the US military and to a strike on a house on Qeshm Island.
Iranian media reported on Thursday that three members of a family were killed in attacks on the island, which is located in the Strait of Hormuz.
Diplomatic efforts continue
Meanwhile, Pakistan, which has been acting as an intermediary between Iran and the United States in efforts to end the conflict, said the two sides are engaged in discussions aimed at reducing tensions.
No independent confirmation of the reported strikes in Kuwait was immediately available.
