A woman wanted by Interpol over the attempted murder of a Cyprus-linked oligarch in Monaco has been found dead in Ukraine, in a development that deepens a high-profile international investigation.
The body of 39-year-old Anastasia Berezovska was discovered late on 6 July, according to Ukrainian media reports, which said she had been shot. Authorities have not officially confirmed the circumstances of her death.
Berezovska had been the subject of an international warrant in connection with a bomb attack targeting Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolaev, who holds Cypriot citizenship. Two suspects have reportedly been detained in Ukraine, including an active intelligence officer and a former member of the security services, though this has not been officially confirmed.
The case stems from an explosion in Monaco on 29 June, when an improvised device detonated near the entrance of a residential complex. Investigators believe a parcel containing explosives was left at the scene and triggered remotely using a mobile phone.
Yermolaev, a real estate and investment entrepreneur linked to the Alef Group, was injured in the blast but has since recovered consciousness and is reported to be improving. His partner, Anna Nazobina, sustained severe injuries and remains in critical condition.
Earlier, Interpol had listed Berezovska as wanted on charges including attempted murder, placing an explosive device in a public space and criminal conspiracy. Reports indicated she had lived in Germany and travelled to Ukraine between March 2025 and early July 2026.
Prosecutors in Monaco have since ruled out terrorism as the primary line of inquiry, focusing instead on attempted murder and explosives offences.
The investigation remains ongoing across multiple jurisdictions, with no official statement yet from Ukrainian police on the reported arrests or Berezovska’s death.
