A suspected member of the Islamic State group was killed in Ankara during a police operation targeting alleged ISIS members ahead of the NATO summit scheduled for 7-8 July.
According to Turkish broadcaster NTV, police raided a house in a district of the Turkish capital on Tuesday. The property reportedly belonged to a suspect who, according to the broadcaster, had issued instructions for an attack through social media before the summit.
A clash broke out during the operation between police officers and the suspect, who was shot dead. His wife was injured during the incident.
Turkish authorities have stepped up security measures ahead of the NATO gathering, with operations reportedly focused on individuals suspected of links to extremist networks.
