As journalists were leaving the Oval Office on Wednesday afternoon, one of them asked President Donald Trump whether there was a deadline for the talks with Iran.
“There is never a deadline,” the US president replied. “It will happen. It will happen. But there is never a deadline,” he added.
Extensions to talks and ceasefire
The United States had previously attempted to impose a time limit on the negotiations. However, it later proceeded to extend both the deadline and the ceasefire in order for talks to continue.

Earlier on Wednesday, Trump told the New York Post that it is still too early to send senior US officials to the region for a new round of direct talks with Iran.
