Cypriot discus thrower Marina Hadjicosta has been nominated for the 2026 European Athletics Rising Star award, recognising the continent's top young athletes, the European Athletics Association has announced.
The 17-year-old is among the candidates shortlisted for the annual "Rising Stars" awards, which honour Europe's leading young female and male athletes.
According to the Cyprus Amateur Athletic Association (KOEAS), the selection process consists of three stages and is based on four equally weighted voting groups: the public, member federations, the media and a European Athletics expert panel. Each group accounts for 25% of the final result.
Voting will remain open until 28 September, while the three finalists in each category will be announced on 1 October.
The winners will be revealed at the European Athletics "Golden Tracks Awards" ceremony in Lausanne on 24 October, where Europe's top athletes for 2026 will be honoured.
Members of the public can participate in the vote through the European Athletics website.
