Cyprus will see a shift towards more unsettled weather during the afternoons, with isolated showers and thunderstorms forecast mainly over the mountains and inland areas.
According to the Department of Meteorology, weak low pressure is affecting the region, while temperatures will remain close to seasonal averages over the coming days.
Mostly sunny start before afternoon showers
Monday will begin mostly clear, although cloud cover will gradually increase.
During the afternoon, the clouds are expected to bring isolated showers or thunderstorms, primarily over mountainous and inland areas.
Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, strengthening later along the southern coast to 4 to 5 Beaufort.
The sea will be slight.
Temperatures are expected to reach:
- 35°C inland
- Around 31°C along the coast
- 22°C in the higher mountains
Mostly clear overnight
Monday night will be mostly clear, although periods of increased low cloud are expected, particularly in coastal areas.
Winds will become light and downslope at around 3 Beaufort, while the sea will be smooth to slight.
Temperatures will fall to:
- 20°C inland
- Around 22°C along the coast
- 13°C in the higher mountains
Similar pattern through Thursday
The same weather pattern is expected to persist on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Temporary increases in afternoon cloud cover are forecast to bring isolated rain or thunderstorms, particularly over the mountains and inland areas.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly and will remain close to the seasonal average.
