Cyprus is set for another spell of hot and mostly sunny weather, with temperatures forecast to reach 38C inland and remain above normal levels for the time of year.
Hot and dry conditions continue
A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region, bringing mainly settled weather across the island.
Friday will be mostly sunny, with temperatures expected to reach:
- 38C inland
- 34C on the south and east coasts
- 32C on the west and north coasts
- 28C in the higher mountains
Light winds and calm seas
Winds will initially be light and variable before turning mainly south-westerly to north-westerly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort at times along southern coastal areas.
Sea conditions are expected to remain calm to slightly rough.
Warm nights
Overnight, conditions will remain mostly clear, although periods of low cloud are expected.
Patchy mist or fog may form in some areas during the early morning hours.
Minimum temperatures are forecast to fall to:
- 18C inland
- 22C along the coast
- 17C in the higher mountains
Weekend outlook
The weather will remain mostly sunny on Saturday and Sunday, with some locally increased cloud developing during the afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to rise slightly over the weekend before easing marginally on Monday.
Despite the slight drop, temperatures will remain above the average climatic values for September.
