Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has provided scholarships totalling €30,000 for the fourth consecutive year to three students in the MBA (Master of Business Administration) programme at the University of Cyprus School of Economics and Management.

The recipients for the 2026-2027 academic year are Giorgos Solomonides, Kartik Rautela and Loizos Georgiades. According to an announcement, they were selected following a thorough evaluation process.

The scholarships were awarded at a special ceremony at the University of Cyprus on 5 November 2026. They fully cover the recipients’ tuition fees and are granted on the basis of academic and socioeconomic criteria, following an evaluation process.

Celebrating vision

The scholarships were presented on behalf of Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou by Rena Rouvitha Panou, a member of the Board of Directors of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation. She said that supporting education is one of the important priorities of Sir Stelios and the Foundation. She added that the initiative reflects his belief in and confidence in the abilities of young people and in the value of knowledge as an asset for the future.

University of Cyprus Rector Professor Tasos Christofides said that the day “is a celebration not only of academic excellence, but also of the strong impact of the Foundation’s vision and generosity”.

The Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Professor Sofronis Clerides, said that “it is a particular honour for the University of Cyprus to be the only university supported by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, despite the fact that he did not study there”.

All the speakers warmly congratulated the students and wished them every success in the future.
