Police are investigating after a 22-year-old delivery driver reported being attacked with stones and bricks while making deliveries in Limassol.

A 22-year-old student from Bangladesh has described what he called a terrifying and unprovoked attack while working as a food delivery driver in Limassol, alleging that a group of youths threw stones and bricks at him as he rode his motorcycle.

The incident is being investigated by the Limassol CID.

According to police, the attack occurred at around 7.30pm on Friday while the man was travelling along Omonia Avenue carrying out food deliveries.

The victim reported being struck on the head by an object allegedly thrown from a nearby road where a group of young people had gathered.

He was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where doctors diagnosed a fractured nose and a head laceration. He was treated and later discharged.

"I did nothing to them"

Speaking to RoadReportCY, the 22-year-old said he is a student registered in Nicosia and lives in Limassol, where he works as a delivery driver to support himself.

He said he noticed a group of six or seven teenagers standing by the roadside on Omonia Avenue.

According to his account, as he approached, the group began throwing stones and bricks at him without any prior confrontation.

He alleged that the impact lifted the visor of his helmet, broke his glasses and injured his nose, eyes and teeth.

"I didn't stop because I was afraid I would be robbed"

Despite bleeding heavily, the student said he continued riding for approximately 100 to 150 metres because he feared that stopping immediately might leave him vulnerable to robbery.

He eventually stopped his motorcycle and began calling for help.

According to his account, women living in the area came outside, saw that he was injured and contacted both the police and an ambulance.

He said the ambulance arrived around 20 minutes later and transported him to Limassol General Hospital.

Doctors reportedly treated his injuries with 11 stitches, including nine to his nose and two near his eye.

Financial concerns

The student said he later returned to the scene with police officers, who carried out examinations and spoke with local residents before taking him to the central police station in Limassol to provide a statement.

He expressed disappointment that there had been no breakthrough in the investigation at the time he spoke publicly and called on authorities to ensure justice is served.

He also highlighted the financial difficulties he now faces, explaining that he relies on his delivery work to pay rent and cover university expenses.

Police investigation

According to police, the complaint was filed late on Friday night.

Officers subsequently attended the scene and conducted investigations.

The case remains under investigation by the Limassol CID.
