Two Arrested Over Assault That Left 30-Year-Old Injured in Nicosia

A 30-year-old man was hospitalised after an early-morning assault in Nicosia, with police arresting a man and a woman in connection with the case.

Police have arrested two people, aged 38 and 34, in connection with an investigation into the assault and injury of a 30-year-old man in Nicosia.

According to a police statement, officers were called to an area of Nicosia at around 4am on Tuesday, where they found the 30-year-old suffering from an abdominal injury following an attack.

The victim was taken to Nicosia General Hospital, where he underwent medical examinations and was admitted for treatment. Doctors have said his condition is not life-threatening.

Investigators subsequently obtained evidence against the 38-year-old suspect, who was arrested on Tuesday under a court warrant.

A 34-year-old woman was also arrested as part of the investigation on suspicion of assisting after the commission of a felony.

The two suspects are expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court on Wednesday for the issuance of detention orders to facilitate ongoing investigations.

The case is being investigated by the Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
