43-year-old detained after ammunition detected in X-ray screening at courthouse entrance, with investigators examining all possible motives, police say

Police arrested a 43-year-old man at Limassol District Court on Tuesday after ammunition was found in his possession during a security screening at the building’s entrance.

According to police, the man passed through an X-ray machine where it became apparent he was carrying bullets.

He was arrested on the spot, authorities said, and taken into custody.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the case and is examining all possible scenarios.

Police did not immediately say how many bullets were found or whether the suspect intended to use them inside the court.
